Janet Mary Reinhardt passed away Sunday January 4, 2026 in Hampton, Virginia. Janet was born June 25, 1946 in New York City, the third of four children to Rose M. Kuczma and Andrew J. Kuczma. Janet was a 1964 graduate of Eastchester High School in Eastchester, NY and earned an undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York City and a master's degree in speech pathology from the University of New Mexico.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Brian and Gretchen Reinhardt and granddaughter, Natalie Reinhardt, of Newport News, VA, two brothers, Peter Kuczma of Yorktown Heights, NY and Phillip Kuczma of Brewster, NY and a sister, Marilyn (Kuczma) Nygren of Wilmington, NC. She was preceded in death by David J Lucero, whom she lived with from 2001 until his death in 2014. She lived in Rio Rancho, NM from 1983 to 2024, earning her Master's degree from UNM in 1988, and was a speech pathologist at Rio Grande High School from 1989 until her retirement in 2014. In addition to working at Rio Grande, she also worked with disabled veterans at the Albuquerque VA Hospital. She was an avid New York Mets baseball fan, New York Jets football fan, and New Mexico Lobos basketball and football fan. She was an animal lover at heart, and her house was always full of life from the dogs and cats that she took care of over the years.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 14 at 5:30 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home at 245 South Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23669. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Animal Humane New Mexico, 615 Virginia St. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
