Jane Brimmer Speegle, 92, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2021. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Jane was born July 31, 1929 in Newport News, Virginia and was the only child of John and Anna Brimmer. She graduated from Warwick County High School. After attending a year at Longwood College she met and married the love of her life, Hobart Speegle Jr.

She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Betty Chapman (Milt), Anne Wentworth, Frances Cocke, and Ellen Moseley (Robert). In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by both parents, John and Anna Brimmer; loving husband of 67 years, Hobart; brother-in-laws, James William "Bill" Speegle, Joseph Hertzler Kyle, and Charles Chancellor Wentworth II; and sister-in-laws, Katherine Collie Speegle and Virgina Speegle Kyle.
After raising her two children, Jane fulfilled a life-long dream of earning a college degree. In the fall of 1968, she applied to Christopher Newport College, now known as Christopher Newport University. In 1974 at the age of 45, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with honors. Her college experience at CNU was a great treasure to her. As a member of Hilton Christian Church for over 50 years, Jane was elected as an Elder Emeritus and served on the church board. She was a Pink Lady with Riverside Hospital. She was a member of the Junior Woman's Club of Hilton Village-holding different offices and then becoming the President from 1962 – 1963. Jane started playing golf later in life and was a member of the Ladies Williamsburg Club golf group. She had various interests during her life and enjoyed learning, reading, sewing, needlework, golf, and taking care of her loving husband. When she and Hobart retired to Yorktown, they enjoyed living on the water and taking care of their pets. Most recently, she lived in Williamsburg to be close to her son, daughter, grand children, and great grandchildren.
