James Jerry (Jay) Wagner departed this life unexpectedly on October 2, 2018. He was born on June 16, 1966, which was Father's Day that year. He was the fifth child of John and Sudie Wagner.

Jay was a gifted and talented musician and played with a variety of local bands, most recently Soul Patch. At the time of his death he was employed by Mechanical Resources Incorporated.

Jay will be remembered for his unconventional ways and his great sense of humor.

Jay is survived by his fiancée, Lee Ann Garel, his brother, John Wagner (Dana), and sisters, Judy Wagner St. Pierre (Paul), Jessica Savage (Harry), and Jeanette Dail (Kenny). He is also survived by five nieces, five nephews, and a host of family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 21 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6812 River Rd, Newport News by the Rev. Tina Melusky. The family will receive friends afterwards in the church social hall. Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions is in charge.
