After 92 years James Samuel Smith Sr. has entered into the true Golden Years.
Born June 6th 1923 in the mountains of Va., "Sam" lived the real American dream. From the Boys Home, where he spent his youth, to Serving proudly in the U S Army during WWII. After the war he married the woman of his dreams, Martha Mc Donald Smith, together they raised five children.
James Samuel Smith, Jr., Alan Smith, Linda Smith Casey, Steven Smith, and Kevin Smith. From these came Fourteen Grandchildren and nine Great Grandchildren.
Sam was a hard working individual in the home improvement industry. Working for several home improvement companies. He quickly became the backbone of each of those companies. After his retirement he enjoyed his passion of hunting and fishing. He also became a true tinkerer. Always taking discarded items and returning them to their useful state. It gave him great joy to give them to people who could use them.
Surviving him is his current wife, companion and caretaker Karen Smith.
"Sam", "Smitty", "My Daddy", "The Old Man", "Granddaddy" and "Granddaddy Sam" will surely be missed.
So walk through eternity with the ones that you love and always remember that the world is a better place because of you.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 at Hampton Memorial Gardens on Butler Farm Rd.
