Obituary

James "Jim" Campbell, 77 of Myrtle Point, Oregon, sadly passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Hampton, Virginia. Jim had been a resident of the City of Hampton for 41 years.

Jim served in the United States Navy for 20 years earning numerous awards. He retired on August 31, 1979, as a Senior Chief Yeoman, from the USS Texas. He then served as a Magistrate for the City of Hampton for 20 years.

Jim enjoyed a full and happy life including world travel with the United States Navy and loved playing golf. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife, Diane Campbell, who he married on December 6, 1975 in London, England. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Kimberly Bridges, niece, Chelsea Lee Covis and nephew, Shane Covis, whom he loved dearly.

Jim's cremation and burial at sea is being arranged by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home and a simple gathering of friends for a Celebration of his Life will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at The Elks Lodge, 2204 Mingee Drive, Hampton.
