James Douglas Miller, 67, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017. Born in Beckley, WV, Doug had been a Hampton resident since 1967. He had worked as a meat-cutter at Pantry Pride for 32 years until retiring and then working for several years as a truck driver. Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved both the water and mountains. He loved his family and his pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his wife of 45 years, Doris W. Miller; daughters, Valerie Propst Cash, and Missy Newman(Billy); sister, Cathy Grimmett(Duane); brother, Mickey Miller; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Audrey Miller; maternal grandparents, George and Lockie Wilburn.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 pm, Friday, March 17, 2016 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton. The family will receive friends from 5-6 pm Friday at the funeral home and at other times at their home.
