James A. Lawson, 76, died Sunday, October 20, 2013. Born in Pulaski, James came to Hampton at a young age. He worked 27 years as a carpenter for HRSD and loved to play bluegrass music.

James is survived by his daughters, Anne Marie Lawson-Quinley and husband Donald, Tara Elizabeth Cooke and husband Edward; son, Jeffrey Dudley; sisters, Martha Raynor and Judy Schatzschneider; brother, Ronnie Lawson; grandchildren, Ashley Challenor, Brandi Conner, Phillip Reed, Shianne Cooke, Destinee Cooke, Jennifer, Jeffrey, and Tiffany; and two great-grandchildren, James A. Challenor and Elizabeth Lawson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 25, 2013 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
