James William Hart, Sr., 65, of Hampton, died Monday, February 1, 2016, of a terminal brain tumor. Jim grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts and moved to Hampton in 1967 and graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 1969. He was employed by the former National Uniform/Linen Services and G&K Services for almost 35 years before his early retirement last Fall. He was an avid fan of Virginia Tech football and enjoyed an eclectic genre of music from the Beatles to that of Lady Gaga. One of his favorite quotes by Jim Morris of The Doors was "When the music's over, turn out the lights." He had a passion for playing his drums and celebrating life with his children and grandchildren. He was respected and loved by his family, his former co-workers, the life-long friends of his children and many members of his faith community.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ann Lehman Hart, his son, Jim, Jr. and his wife, Mandi, of South Carolina, his daughter, Kim, of Hampton, his grandchildren, Katelyn, Hailey and Kyle, his brothers, Tom and John, and his sisters, Thelma, Mary and Pat. He was preceded in death by his son, Steve, and his parents, Bill and Thelma Hart.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2150 Cunningham Dr., Hampton, 23666. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 5:30 p.m.  A reception will follow the mass.  Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5th, at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will gather at the church at 9:40 a.m.
