James "Jim" Benjamin Ennis was born September 14, 1947, and passed away peacefully in his home with loved ones by his side on July 17, 2026. He is survived by sons, Don, Christopher (Virginia), brothers Michael (Cindy), Kevin, sister Nancy, and grandchildren, Jayna, Joshua, L.J., and Nicky. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Terry Ennis, father, Benjamin Watt Ennis, mother, Nancy Louise Ennis, brother Barry Lee Ennis, sister Vicky Sue Pauley, and son James David Ennis.

After graduating from Oscar Frommel Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 19, where he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant after 26 years. After retiring from the military, he continued working at Busch Gardens as a Warehouse Manager, where he eventually retired after 22 years. He was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church for 47 years. He also volunteered at the Langley Satellite Pharmacy. Jim enjoyed bowling, golf, playing cards, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and The South Norfolk Golf Association. Jim had the opportunity to travel to all 50 states and many countries with his beloved wife Terry.

We are truly grateful for the support given by all our family and friends for their generous time and support during Jim's decline in health.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, August 08, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton VA. Following the Celebration of Life, a reception will be held at St. Rose of Lima and the Korean Martyrs Catholic Parish, 2114 Bay Ave, Hampton, VA until 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Jim would have appreciated any remembrances be made to a Veteran Service Organization of your choice. Jim believed strongly in being true to your word and helping one another.
