James "Jimmy" Reade Chisman, 80, passed away on June 27, 2024 after a long illness.  A lifelong resident of Hampton, he attended Hampton High School, Bluefield College, and graduated from the University of Richmond.  Jimmy worked at WVEC, Chisman Concrete, was the owner of JR Chisman Development Inc. and was a long-time member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth Winne and Julian Wythe Whiting Chisman Sr.; and his brother, Whiting Chisman Jr..  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anne Atkinson Chisman; daughters, Terri and Cannon; granddaughter, Cypress; and beloved family members.

Over the years, Jimmy had many personal and community involvements.  Most notably, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Jackson Feild Behavioral Health Services, Old Point National Bank, and the Virginia Air and Space Science Center.  He especially enjoyed "The Chisman Invitational Golf Tournament" at Old Mill, playing cards and fishing with friends.  His sense of humor will not be forgotten.

A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Emmanual Episcopal Church, by Rev. Rhonda Wheeler.    Inurnment will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 15, 2024, at St. John's Cemetery, Hampton.
