James Kennedy Bishop, 89, widower of Faye G. Bishop, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017. A lifelong resident of the Peninsula, he retired from Sturgis Newport Business Forms after 30 years as a Stereotype.

James graduated from St. Vincent's High School in 1952. He also played for the Hampton Royals as a pitcher. During that time he received an offer to play for the New York Yankees, but declined the offer so that he could stay home with his family.

Surviving are his daughters, Tricia Hogge and Nelson Crawford, Mary Rogers and husband John and Jenny Higgins and husband Patrick, sister, Geraldine Fox, grandchildren, Lindsay Oliver, Aaron Vargas, Lauren Hogge, Courtney Rogers, James Rogers, and Ethan Higgins; and great grandchildren, Abram Mehlhoff, Addison Oliver, Lily Hales and Athena Vargas.

The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 PM Wednesday at the home of Mr. Bishop. Expressions of sympathy should take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA   23058.
