For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day:  and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

James Richard Adams Sr., 78, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016. James R. Adams Sr. was born August 16, 1937 to Mr. Clarence and Angeline Adams in Jersey City, New Jersey.  James moved to Hampton, VA in February 2016 to be closer to his two youngest grandchildren.

James served in the United States Air Force during Korea.  He then worked for JCPenney's, retiring in 1994 after 20 years.  Also known as "Jim" or "Jimmy", after retirement from JCPenney's James worked at the McLoone's Running Store in Shrewsbury, New Jersey.  James was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, "Pop Pop", counselor, psychiatrist, lawyer, judge, track coach, and greatest of all the best friend anybody could ask for.  He lived for his family, friends and Christmas.

James leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memories.  Surviving are his sons, James R. Adams Jr. and Ty R. Adams; grandchildren, James R. Adams III, Evan T. Adams and Braylon T. Adams; sister, Delores Sanders; two daughter in-laws, Romelin Adams and Virginia Adams and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 3:30, McLoone's Pier House  1 Ocean Avenue Long Branch, NJ 07740.
