Jaden Ray Matheny, 18, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 3, 2026.  He was born in Newport News, VA on May 1, 2007.  Jaden graduated high school and worked as the Assistant Manager of Mercury Tobacco and Vape.   He enjoyed baseball, Boy Scouts, motorcycles, boats, and working on the family car "little blue".

Preceded in death by great-grandparents, Judy Walker and Ed Walker, Jr.; step-grandfather, Donald Johnson; and uncle, Harry Walker; Devin Matheny;  Jaden leaves to cherish is memory is parents, Miranda Cantrell and Chis Walker; sister, Eniale Rose Matheny; brother, Derrick Pryde Matheny; grandmother, Arlin Walker; grandfather, Edward Walker, III; grandmothers Kathleen Johnson, Valerie Oakley, and Deborah Jammillio; uncles, Edward Walker, IV (Dhanie Joy), and Domingo Walker; bonus siblings, Alex Cantrell, William Snow, Gunner Woodley, and Miguel Figueroa; a large extended family to include the Matheny Clan; the Walker Clan; the Oakey Clan; the Johnson Clan; the Marshall Clan; a host of friends; and his faithful companion, "BMO", his beloved cat.

A Celebration of Life will be held  at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton.
