Jacqueline S. Leggett, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 24, 2017 surrounded by her family. A lifelong resident of Hampton, she was a graduate of Hampton High School's Class of 1945, a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hampton and retired from Fort Monroe after 25 years of service.

She loved her Hampton Crabbers, daily outings, hugs, dancing, and her family and friends. She will be missed dearly for her sweet spirit, kind heart, loving ways and a smile that would light up any room. Life will never be the same.

Preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Stewart; husband, Billie; daughter, Melissa; and sister, Margaret, she is survived by her daughters, Melinda Lowe and husband, Kevin and Heather Decker and husband, Brian; two granddaughters, Hannah Leggett and Courtney Eutsler and husband, Chris; six great grandchildren; nieces, Sandy and Gayle; nephew, Jack Jr.; and her dear friend, Nell Writtenberry.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM with visitation at 1:00 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Riverside Hospice and neighbor, Dale Spencer.
