Jacob "Jake" Davis, 31, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away Sunday afternoon at the Virginia Commonwealth University Critical Care Unit (CCU). He had a sudden respiratory illness some three weeks ago, and was treated at Langley Hospital and then Portsmouth before spending the last several weeks at Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital in Richmond. Jake was born in Norfolk, Jan 1984, and was a 2002 graduate of Granby High School, Norfolk. He worked at the Tidewater Insulators in Norfolk, where he was a supervisor, leading his own team. Jake was an avid golfer, and won or placed in many local tournaments. He was a lifelong Miami Dolphins fan and loved watching football and enjoying a cold one! He was acknowledged by all as a wonderful husband, father, brother, son, son-in-law, and dear friend to so many! He was loved by all who knew him. He was a patient husband and a doting Dad, and everyone knew he was devoted to Family, Golf, Dolphins – in that order. He was predeceased by his parents, Selby and Evelyn Davis. Jake is survived by his wife, Holly; step-son, Peyton Jenkins; step-daughter, Madison Jenkins; daughter, Avery Davis; his siblings Jessica Morrison, Jonah Barnett, Joshua Barnett, Jessica Davis, and Crystal Adams. Visitation will be at 1 PM at Berceuse Funeral Home, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, VA 23666, followed by a brief remembrance service at 2 PM. Reception following.
