Jack D. Schaab, 74, died Thursday, September 3, 2026. Born in Ohio, he retired from the US Air Force in 1991 after 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph and volunteered many hours there. He was also a member of The Knights of Columbus Council 511. Jack travelled extensively in the last few years teaching the history and significance of the SR71 Reconnaissance Jet. His last trip was in July of this year to England.

Preceded in death by his son, Jack D. Schaab, Jr.; survivors include his wife, Amanda Schaab; his daughter, Carol A. Padgett; three sons, Richard B. McNeill, George W. “Bill” McNeill, and James Schaab; and five grandchildren, Marissa and Cheyanne Padgett, Kayla and Konner McNeill, and Jack D. Schaab, III.

The family will receive friends from 3:30-5PM Saturday, September 5, 2026, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be scheduled at a later date. Please check rhaydensmith.com for updates.
