Jack A. Lucas, 61, a most beloved, husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend; a truly godly man of the most jovial spirit has gone to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2014. Born in Pennsylvania, Jack has long standing roots to the greater Tidewater area, stemming from 30+ years of service at/or to the Newport News Shipyard. He was, proudly, a second generation graduate of the Apprentice School.

Jack was a devoted husband to Linda K. Lucas of 31 years; doting father to his son Brian J. Lucas and daughter Kirby L. Manson and her husband Mike; proud grandfather to Holden A. Manson and Grace Lucas; son of Marian and Woodrow Pierce; son-in-law of Virginia C. Kirby; and brother of Terry Lucas.

Jack is best remembered a gregarious, fun-loving, extraverted soul, engaging everyone with a warm joyous laugh and smile. He lived and loved with a true servant's heart to assist any and all in need. As such, he has indeed left a legacy of love and has enriched many lives. He shall be forever loved, cherished and adored by family, colleagues and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in downtown Hampton. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday at St. John's Episcopal Church by Rev. Dr. Steven R. Rottgers.
