Obituary

Jack E. Linkous, Sr. passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017. Jack was born on August 23, 1924 in Princess Anne, Maryland to John and Lillian. He lived most of his life in Hampton where he attended Hampton High School and played in the State Championship game of 1942.

He served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he served in the fire department where he became a Fire Inspector for the City of Hampton. He owned numerous businesses, but he was best known for Jack's Family Restaurant; which remained a Hampton landmark for over fifty years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and six brothers. Jack is survived by his daughters Gayle (Randy) Dillon and Sandy (Ed) Peterson; and his son Jack (Mona) Linkous, Jr.; and Pamela Scott, who he raised and loved as his own; four grandchildren Ryan (Jessica), Mehgan, Corey and Taylor; seven great-grandchildren; and all of his beloved Jack's employees.

A special thanks to Kay Sheffield, his hospice nurse and friend; as well as all the loyal patrons that loved Jack's. Jack spent his last months with his best buddy, entertainer, and care giver, his son-in-law, Randy Dillon, and for that, we are grateful.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 20, 2017 from 6-7 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton with a service immediately following at 7 PM. The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Animal Aide Society, 8 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA 23666 or the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
