Irene (Betty) P Johnson passed away on April 18, 2014 at Home. Mrs. Johnson was born on January 1, 1928 in Birmingham England to the late William and Hannah Tonks. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years Harry P. Johnson, Sr., Sister and good friend Beryl Oliver and Brother Raymond Tonks. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons Michael H. Johnson (Donna), Harry Preston Johnson, Jr., (Margaret), Raymond W. Johnson (Patti), Brother Stanley Tonks (England), grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Johnson was a master homemaker and talented patron of the needle arts. She knitted so many special items for all the family even though her hands were crippled with rheumatoid arthritis for many years. She was beyond reproach, and an inspirational role model for many who knew her. She was a founding and active member of the Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association (TBPA). Mrs. Johnson willingly sacrificed her career ambitions to maintain a correct rudder for the family. When her children were older, she worked as office manager at Montgomery Wards, J.C. Penny's and she and Sister Beryl owned and operated a knitting and crafts business. Her entire Family fondly remembers the many acts of love and kindness she so lovingly gave over the years. Our family cornerstone is gone but not forgotten.

A funeral liturgy and reception will be held 11:00 AM, April 29, 2014 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hampton with graveside service at Veterans Memorial Gardens where Mrs. Johnson will be delivered into her Husband's waiting arms.
