Irene Boswell, 88, died Tuesday, December 27, 2023. Born in Wilson Co., NC, she was raised with seven siblings and she was extremely close to her father.  Later she would relocate to Hampton and raise her daughter who joined the Air Force.  Irene traveled to every assignment her daughter had and loved meeting new people while enjoying the views of different landscapes.  She refused to fly in an airplane, saved every penny she earned and loved reading her bible.  She would later relocate to Texas about 12 years ago to live with her daughter permanently.  She leaves a legacy of sewing, gardening, canning, bible verse memorization, and motherhood that cannot be matched.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Johnson and her husband, Matthew; three grandchildren, Megan and Zack Croyle and Peyton Johnson; and a great-granddaughter, Zelda.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Friday, January 5, 2024 at Parklawn Memorial Park.
