Ida E. Saunders, 97, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Born and raised in Hampton, she was a longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She helped her husband in his business, Saunders Printing Company and volunteered her time with the American Legion. A gentle, sweet, humble and caring person, she always put others before herself. She was preceded in death by her parents, LaReine and Earl Stanley Trimble, Sr., her husband, Raymond P. Saunders, Sr., her son, Raymond P. Saunders, Jr., daughter, Marilyn Kay Saunders, her brothers, E. Stanley Trimble, Jr. and Charles H. Trimble, Sr., and her son-in-law, Gary L. Parsons. Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth S. Satchell and her husband, Frank, Gloria P. Holland and her husband, Ronnie, and Joyce Drummond and her husband, John; her sister-in-law, Mary Trimble; four grandchildren, Barbara Ann Matthews, Douglas M. Satchell and his wife, Lisa Ann, Kristie Herod and her husband, Ned, and Brittany Alberson and her husband, Justin; and fourteen great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the many caregivers at The Piedmont Unit of Warwick Forest for their tender care during the past three years. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 1, 2015 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by Rev. Terry Spencer. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
