Hilda Grey Blalock Williams of Hampton, VA, passed away Thursday evening, March 2, 2017 at Riverside Regional Medical Center due to complications following open heart surgery in February.  She was seventy-five years young. Born March 9, 1941 in Timberlake, Person Co., NC, she was the eighth and youngest child of the late Roby Elbert Blalock, Sr. and Viola Belle Eakes. At age eighteen, Hilda met the love of her life, William Patrick "Bill" Williams of Morrisville, Wake Co., NC. Three weeks later, they moved to Virginia and were blessed with three loving daughters, Tammy, Tina, and Peggy.

Hilda worked hard to care for her family at home. She was a fantastic cook, seamstress, gardener, as well as fixing things around the house. She also worked outside of the home for many years, mainly in the printing industry. For a time, she operated and maintained a large sheridan collating/binding machine while at Braceland Brothers. Before her retirement at age seventy-three, she had worked for Measurement Specialties, Inc. for twenty-one years.

Hilda is survived by her wonderful husband, Bill, her daughter Tammy and husband Dan Fisher, her daughter Tina Merilic and Paul Anderson, and her daughter Peggy and husband Brian Bourque. She was also "Mama H" to Johnsie and her husband David Sowder. She was "MeMa" to her grandchildren Desiree Hafer (Matt), Timothy Bourque (Allie), Sean Merilic (Stacey), Paul Bourque (Deborah), and to her great-grandchildren, Anastasia, Julia, Silas, Adam, Avi, Jesse, Kathryn, Boaz, and Carly. She is survived by her siblings Bill Blalock of Sumrall, MS, Vionette Tapp and Rex Blalock (Hazel) of Roxboro, NC, and F.D. Blalock (Joyce) of Rougemont, NC, and sisters-in-law Maisie Eareckson of Hampton, VA, Mary Blohn Williams of Durham, NC and Betty Williams of Hampstead, NC. She is also survived by her many friends, especially Cydonia Fusek and Ed Fusek, Audrey Barnes Brown, Renelda George, Linda Landon, and Kristen Snyder. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Gertrude Wilson, Elbert Blalock, Jr., and Coralee Harper Matthews.

The family wishes to thank everyone who worked the SICU as a team to help Hilda during her stay at Riverside.
