NEWPORT NEWS - Helga Ilse Lovko, 81, passed away peacefully in her home in Newport News, VA surrounded by her family. Helga grew up one of nine children in the former East Germany and immigrated to the United States with her husband, SSGT Conrad Lovko, whom she married in 1958. They settled into the Hampton Roads area, Conrad working for the Air Force and later at the Newport News Shipyard. Helga loved gardening (especially tending to her Christmas cacti), hunting for good bargains, and afternoon coffee. But most of all she loved being with her family, especially around Christmas. She is preceded in death by: her husband, Conrad; a sister, Brunhilde; and a brother, Wolfgang. Helga is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Nardi and Mark Routten, Veronica and Todd Harvey, Christine and Gregg Parisher, Rhonda and Bill Fisher; her son, Vincent Lovko and his partner, Jennifer Miselis; ten grandchildren; and six sisters residing in Germany. Graveside services for family and close friends will be held Friday, 15 January 2016 at 11am at Hampton National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at home from 6-8pm on 15 January 2016.
