Helen J. Vartuli, 87, died Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Born in Oil City, PA, she had been a Peninsula resident since 1959. She served honorably in the US Army and was a life member of the DAV Chapter 13, Yorktown. Helen had been a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Poquoson.

Preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Mary Hedglin and her sister, Patricia Walk; survivors include her children, James Jones, Gary Jones, Angela Lewis (Kenneth), Matthew Jones (Bridgett), and Tracy Jones (Mel Wotton); four grandchildren, Karen Sorrells (Keith), Kandi Smith (Daryl), Briar Jones, and Avery Wotton; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor Funkhouser (Sam), Haille Hatter, Holly Hatter, and Logan Smith.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:30 AM, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Poquoson with a funeral service beginning at 11:30. Burial with Army honors will take place at 3:00 PM at the Albert G. Horton State Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk.
