Helen Elaine McDermott, 87, widow of Deacon Robert James McDermott, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014. Born in Bayside, NY she was formerly of Palm Coast, FL, and has been a Newport News resident for 10 years.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Gail McWhorter and her husband Tom; sons, Stephen McDermott and his wife Marietta and James McDermott and his wife, Mavis; sister, Priscilla Wormell and her husband Roger; brother, David Couch and his wife Heather; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 1-2:00 PM Saturday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Immediately following at 2:00 PM, a memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. John David Ramsey.
