Harry Lee Bandy, Sr., 71, died Saturday, August 22, 2026. He was born in Newport News and retired as a Master Shipbuilder from the Newport News Shipyard in March 2017, after 44 years of service. He was a Mustang enthusiast, loved his truck, and the Washington Redskins. His greatest love was for his family, especially his grandbabies and great-grandbabies. He was feisty and silly and enjoyed making people laugh.

Harry was preceded in death by his uncle, Thomas Winters and his wife, Dorothy, and his aunt, Gloria McGinnis Bernd. Survivors include his wife, Brenda L. Bandy; his daughter, Christina R. Bandy; his son, Harry L. Bandy, Jr. and wife, Kathy; his grandchildren, Ashli Durant (Pierre), Brandon Bandy (Kayla), Destinee Bandy, Cameron Bandy (Morgan Wood), Bella Bandy, and Aubrey Bandy; his great-grandchildren, Kadence, Amari, Leo, Aria, and Kai; a brother, Bill Frost; and 3 sisters, Pat Bridges, Rena McLaughlin, and Tamy Beckman. He will also be missed by his beloved dog, Chanel.
