Harold D. Rowland, 80, died Friday, July 19, 2014. Born in Pinetown, NC he moved to Hampton as a child before joining the USAF. Following 7 years in the military, he moved around the country before returning to Hampton 14 years ago. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest D. and Emma Jane Rowland; sisters, Helen Culler and Carol Jean Waters; and a brother, Bonner Lee Rowland. He is survived by his brothers, Norman Rowland and Ralph Rowland; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 6 PM, Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. Interment in North Carolina will be at a later date.
