MSgt. Guy Irving Marshall (U.S. Air Force Ret.), 94, passed away at home Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Born in Headwaters, VA, he has been a resident of Hampton for 52 years. Guy served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War, retiring in 1962 after 23 years. He then worked as an office manager for a snack food distributor. He was a 50 year member of Community Presbyterian Church, a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, and a former member of the VFW and American Legion. Guy was preceded in death by his wife, Doris H. Marshall; son, Edward L. Marshall; sister, Maxine M. Poe; and brother, Nelson Marshall. Surviving are his sons and their spouses, Richard A. and Tommie Marshall, Timothy I. and Patricia Marshall and Mark A. and Deborah Marshall all of Hampton; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 PM Sunday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday at Community Presbyterian Church by Pastors Robert G. White and Ron Blade. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
