Gregory Smith was born March 26, 1954 in Jacksonville, NC. He had been a Hampton resident for the last 30 years and worked as a caretaker and provided landscaping duties for others.

Survivors include,  1 son, Gregory Smith, Jr. of Selma, NC;  1 daughter Ziaye Brooks of Newport News, Va;  two brothers, Victor Guy and wife, Helen and Mitchell Smith all of Jacksonville, NC;  a sister, Mary Ann Smith-Copeland of Elizabeth, NJ; 2 God Sisters, Patricia Newton and RaMona Owens and husband of Goldsboro, NC; four grandchildren;  a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and friends.   He also leaves behind three special friends, Earlene Ruffin of Selma, NC;  Leacy Knox  and Nieta Blount both of Hampton Va.
