February 1, 1951 – April 9, 2022
Edwin Glenn Sweeney, 71, died Saturday, April 9, 2022. Born in Forrest City, Arkansas, he retired from the Navy in 1991 after 20 years of service. He went back to work at Boyd Brothers driving long distance until his health prevented him from working any longer. Glenn was a very kind man who had a great sense of humor, even in his most painful days, and he enjoyed watching old westerns. His greatest joy was being with his family.
The youngest of seven children, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Frances, Houston, Myrtle and Deanie. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Brenda Barba Sweeney; his children, Paula Aquino (Jose), David Sweeney (Donna-Jean), Scott Sweeney (Desiree), and Laura Sweeney (Stan); his brother, Johnny Nesmith (Ellie); his sister, Larue Haynes (Jerry); fourteen grandchildren, Brittani, Dustyn, Michael, Cody, Brittnie, Nicole, Chelsey, Robyn, Tyler, Caiden, Paislee, Seth, Adrianna, and Noah; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Cooper, Millie, Chase, and Taelynne; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-3pm Friday, April 15, 2022 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 3 and may be viewed live by clicking HERE.
