Glenn Earnest Giles, Jr., 69, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013. A lifelong resident of the Peninsula, Glenn was a 1962 graduate of Warwick High and a graduating Senior from Hargrave Military Academy in 1963. He went on to graduate from Virginia Tech with a degree in Civil Engineering and was a licensed Professional Engineer. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as a manager in the Nuclear Engineering Division in 2005 after 38 years of work he loved. He was a member and past Commodore of Hampton Yacht Club and was a valued member of various race committees and national sailing events. He was awarded Honorary Membership in 2011 for recognition of his outstanding service to the club. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol Giles, his sister Linda Watkins, his children Russ Giles and wife Lisa, his daughter Renee Neighbors, and his grandchildren Christopher, Amanda, Summer, and Fisher.

A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, December 23, 2013 at Peninsula Memorial Park by Rev. Samantha Vincent-Alexander.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association or another charity of your choice.
