Obituary

Glen Ziemba, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, and friend sadly passed away on January 6, 2018. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Merry and Victor Ziemba.

Glen worked for the City of Hampton Fire and Rescue from 1977-2014. Through his dedicated service in the department he achieved the rank of Battalion Chief.

Glen was a quiet warrior. He would lend a hand of friendship to those in need without hesitation. There was never any kind of chocolate that was safe when he was around.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, his daughters Jenny (Jake), Vicky (Joey), Sammie and his little buddies James Russell, Jamie Glen and Vander Rhy.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hampton. A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 1:00 PM with Monsignor Robert Perkins officiating.  His urn will be placed in the church columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the "food pantry" operated by the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2150 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, VA 23666; or to the American Burn Association Headquarters, 311 South Wacker Drive, Suite 4150, Chicago, IL 60606 or at Ameriburn.org.

Arrangements under the care of R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, downtown Hampton.
