Gertrude "Trudy" Jarmolowski, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 23, 2016 from congestive heart failure. Trudy was born and raised in Northampton, MA, and graduated from Northampton High School. She was the youngest of four children and was predeceased by her sisters Natalie and Rosalie and brother Raymond.
Trudy was predeceased by her husband of 26 years, Joseph Jarmolowski (USAF ret.), who died in 1979. As a military wife she enjoyed living in many places throughout the U.S. as well as two tours in England. In 1971 the Jarmolowski family moved to Hampton and in 1975 Trudy began working at Morrison's Cafeteria until her retirement as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant in 1991. During her retirement years she enjoyed a wide circle of friends, bowling, traveling, church activities, and spending time her family.
Trudy will be dearly missed by her sons James of DeBary, FL and David (Louann) of Elliston, VA and daughter Susan of Oakton, VA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nephews, nieces and friends.
The Jarmolowski family expresses their gratitude to Gloria Gamble-Upshur, Juliana Ewur and Trudy's other caregivers who lovingly cared for her, as well as Intrepid Hospice during the end of her journey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 Friday, February 26, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-6PM Thursday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
