Geraldine Barfield Holliday, 68, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Born in North Carolina, her family moved to Hampton Roads when she was a year old. She worked as a hairdresser at Sussex Beauty Salon for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Samuel E. "Doc" Holliday; her children, Richard G. Steppe and his fiancée, Rhonda L. Hanauer and Shannon L. Higgins and her husband, Carl W. Higgins, Jr.; her mother, Maggie Barfield; her sister, Shirley J. Barfield; four grandchildren, Gerri Hendley, Christina Higgins-Wilson, Abby Higgins, and Andrew Higgins; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher Deuell, Nicholas Hendley and Grayce Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 4-6pm Sunday, January 7, 2018 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton.
