Obituary

George Ashworth Willard, 73, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015. A native of Flushing, NY he had been a Peninsula resident for many years. He served in the US Naval Submarine Service as a fire control technician on the USS Sea Leopard and the USS Sam Houston. He was a very active and faithful member of Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church and it's Volunteers in Missions (VIMS) and loved model trains, card games, woodworking and photography. He retired from Imation in 2002. Survivors include his wife, Anita Willard; his daughter, Deanne Marshall; his ex-wife, Diana Marshall and her husband, Brad; his sister, Anne Pinkham and her husband, Al of Wesley Chapel, FL; and a brother, Tim Willard and his wife, Patti of Thonotosassa, FL. A memorial service with Navy honors will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church followed by a reception. Memorials may be made to VIMS, Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church, 1024 Harpersville Rd., Newport News, VA 23601.
