George Scotty Paton, 87, died on November 8, 2021, at his home in Newport News, Virginia. At his request no services will be held in the U.S., his ashes will be laid to rest in Scotland by his children in the near future.

Scotty Paton was born August 22, 1934, in Dumbarton, Scotland and came to the United States in 1952 on the Queen Mary with his sister Rita.  He worked for Dow Chemical in Williamsburg and lived most of his adult life in both Charlottesville and Newport News, Virginia.  Scotty was known for his Scottish charm and beloved by family and friends; capable of building a house from top to bottom, yet also loved to sing Scottish ballads at weddings.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Johan Paton, his nine sisters and one brother, his two wives Shirley Paton and Sandra Paton, and his son Scott Paton. George Scotty Paton is survived by four children, Heather Paton, George Paton, Bruce Paton, Robert Paton, and three grandchildren, Alex, Mia, and Emi.
