Silver Horseshoes
By George W. Mooney
Silver horseshoes and a mane of gold
eyes like diamonds I am told
shining in the midnight moon,
I'll be riding on him soon.
Black as coal, with lightning speed
Through the night gallops the steed,
Destination nearest star
Speed of light, we'll travel far.
Now he stops and paws the ground,
Looks at me without a sound
Time to travel, time to ride,
Swiftly to the stars we'll fly.
