George Long Erdman, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. A lifelong Peninsula resident, he grew up in Dandy, and moved to Hampton as a teenager, graduating from Hampton High School in 1948. He owned and operated George Erdman Paint and Decorating Company until his retirement. George was a longtime member of Hampton Roads Baptist Church.

George enjoyed baseball and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He also loved cats and took care of a number of homeless cats over the years.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother John Erdman; sister Doris Jones and her husband Lester; and nephew Paul Ware; he is survived by his sister-in-law, Delma Erdman; nephews Richard Jones and Alan Jones (Donna); niece Sandra Morgan (Jerry); and good friends and neighbors, Butch and Janice Mort.

A graveside service will be held in Parklawn Memorial Park on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM.
