Gene S. Sulik, 75, died Sunday, June 8, 2024. Born in Williamsburg, he was a longtime Yorktown resident where he worked as a Deputy for the Sheriff's Department for 35 years, retiring in 2006. He had been a Hampton resident for the last 10 years.

An avid magician, he was a practical jokester and talented musician who could play the drums and guitar and sing. He enjoyed fishing, riding his chopper, and taking road trips on the historic roads in the area.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Sulik, his parents, Waldemar R. and Elsie Pauline Sulik, and his brother, Walt Sulik. He is survived by his daughters, Cheri Everett and husband, Chris and Mary Crosby and husband, James; his son, Greg Koch; his sister, Sandra Sulik; his brothers, Paul "Butch" Sulik and Rex Sulik; four grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob and Cole Crosby and Kaitlynne McGill and husband, Dakota; and a great-granddaughter, Scarlet Rose McGill.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 pm Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30 PM following the graveside service at Warwick Moose Lodge and Family Center, 1711 Warwick Moose Lane, Newport News, VA.  All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
