Gary Alan Heavener, 64, passed away on October 16, 2021. He was a proud West Virginian, born in Parkersburg, WV. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2002.

Gary is survived by his children, Jessica Heavener, Gregory Heavener, and Christopher Wingate; father, Edward Ware, Jr.; sisters, Diane Wright and Bonnie Heavener; and grandchildren, Giselle, Axel, and Ginea Heavener.

A service to celebrate Gary's life will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday the 22nd, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave. in Hampton.

The family wishes any memorial contributions to be made to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
