Galen James Ross, born February 11, 1941, in Miller, Missouri to Hazel and Gilbert Ross, died on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Galen was a resident of Sarcoxie, Missouri until the US Army relocated him to Fort Eustis, Virginia. In August 1959, friends introduced him to Viola Selby of Phoebus who would become and remain his wife for over 65 years.
Galen was predeceased by his parents; sister, Phyllis Butler; and three infant children, Galena, James, and Wiley. He is survived by his wife, his daughters Peggy Boullianne and Becky Hopson; his son, Randy Ross (Charlotte); grandchildren, Amanda, Randi, Brock, Trent (Jennifer) and Cam; great-grandchildren, Jenna, Jamie, Klay, Gunner, Cali, Lyla, Jennymell, and Spencer; his sister, Linda West of Sarcoxie, MO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Galen retired from Dan Daniels Distribution Center with over a million safe driving miles. His most recent employer was Newton Bus Service.
Galen enjoyed racing stock car #5 at Virginia Raceway and Langley Speedway. He also enjoyed attending runs and rallies with the Highway Gentlemen Motorcycle Club; especially when his Yamaha Venture Royale took "Best in Show" at Dollywood.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for the care provided by Kerry, Megan, Abraham, Bethany and Laura. A special thank you to Rick Montalbo for always being there.
