Obituary
Gage (Tim) Dearborn Grindle of Hampton, Virginia, died peacefully on December 4, 2015 at the age of 89.
Gage was born to parents Frances Mackenzie Dearborn and Harold Gage Grindle on October 28, 1926, in Camden, Maine. He attended Kents Hill School in Maine and graduated from Camden High School.
Tim was industrious and hardworking all of his life. He retired from C. Lloyd Johnson Company, Inc., of Norfolk, Virginia, where he had been a highly successful sales representative for many years. He was also a loyal and steadfast volunteer at Riverside Hospital in Newport News and received several awards for outstanding service.
In the 1980's Tim found and married the love of his life, Judith Morris Grindle, a clinical nurse specialist and nurse educator at the Hampton Veterans Administration. During their twenty two years together they enjoyed traveling, dining out and entertaining family and friends, and most of all spending time with family in Maine and Petersburg VA.
Tim was known and loved for his outgoing personality, generosity, sincerity and loyalty. He always put the needs of others before his own. His enthusiasm and unsinkable good cheer were a blessing to all who crossed his path. Throughout his life he was an avid Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed hunting and golf and was proud of having once hit a "hole in one."
Tim was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife, Judith, his sister, Ruth Grindle Brown, ("Brownie") and his brother, Paul Douglas Grindle. He is survived by his niece, Gage G. Barrus and husband William Barrus, Jr., of Lincolnville, ME, Great Nephew Joshua Barrus of Framingham, MA, Great Niece, Brooke Ruth Barrus of Camden Maine, and Great, Great nephew, Landon.
A memorial service will be held at the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 4.00 pm .
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
Internment will be private at the Mountain View Cemetry in Camden, Maine.
