MSgt Frederick Ronald Howell (U.S. Air Force retired), 76, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017. Born in Bedford, VA, he has been a resident of Hampton since 1977. In 1983, he retired from the U.S. Air Force, after 22 years, which include service during Vietnam. He retired again in 2002 from NASA as a Mechanic. Fred was known around town for his love of flea markets and yard sales. Graduated Churchland High School in 1959.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Evelyn S. Howell; daughters, Robin L. Howell (Steve Woolard) and Sylvia H. Burton (Mike); and grandchildren, Joleen Howell, South Burton and Brennen Burton.

The family wishes in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507.
