Obituary

Frank A. Kearney, IV, died Sunday, November 2, 2025. A lifelong resident of Hampton, he graduated from Ferrum College with a degree in Environmental Science. He worked in that field for a number of years, and eventually began installing floors in many local homes and enjoyed traveling for larger commercial projects. Frank was a hard worker, and took on numerous projects with neighbors, friends, and family. He was always willing to be there when someone needed help. He was an innovative thinker who could fix almost anything.

Frank loved fishing, his dog Hyatt, and his garden. He generously shared his vegetables with family, neighbors, and friends. He was a jokester who never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone. He had a colorful and humorous personality. Frank was a devoted son to his Mother Nancy, and a patient teacher to his children, Melanie and Nicholas. He filled our lives with love and memories we will cherish forever.

Preceded in death by his father, Frank A. Kearney, III, and his nephew, Michael Diggs; Frank is survived by his children, Melanie and Nicholas Kearney; his mother, Nancy B. Kearney; his sister, Katherine Kearney and her husband, William Shreves; his granddaughter, Mia Kearney; his nephew, Kristopher Diggs and his wife, Melissa; his great-nephew, Kristopher, Jr.; two great-nieces, Kaylee and Lillian; and his beloved dog, Hyatt.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 10th, 2025, in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel, located at 245 South Armistead Avenue, Hampton Virginia, 23669.
