Francis "Frank" Joseph Glawson, Jr, 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Buckroe on August 4, 2014. Frank was born in New London, CT on December 11, 1941 and was a retired airline pilot from Piedmont/US Air Airlines. He was an avid sailor, loved the opera and Mt. Gay Rum and was a member of Council 511 of the Hampton chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Frank is survived by his daughter, Cathryn Wirth of North Kingston RI, his sons Frank Glawson III of Hopkinton RI, David Glawson of Exeter, RI sisters Monica Glawson of Jacksonville NC, Barbara Jean Bryce of Bear Delaware, Loretta Frye of Anchorage AK, and brother James Glawson of Exeter RI. Frank was preceded in death by his sons Russell and Brad Glawson and his brother John Glawson. Frank brightened the lives of all who knew him and will be missed by many, both near and far. A memorial mass will be held Saturday August 9, 2014 at 12:00 noon at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Buckroe, Virginia followed by a celebration of his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus.
