Frances E. "Cookie" Walden, 86, died Sunday, March 2, 2025. Born in Clyattville, Georgia, she worked as an administrative assistant for the civil service at Moody AFB in Georgia, Langley AFB, the Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC, and the White House during the Clinton Administration before retiring after 30 years of service. She also worked at Gloria Dei and Williamsburg Landing. Cookie loved painting, decorating, and recycling useful items when other people couldn't see their value. She also loved spending time with her family and cuddling with their pets.
Cookie was preceded in death by her parents, Francis E. and Erma Cook; two husbands, Dick Walden and Donald Quackenbush; her brother, Fred Cook, his wife, Claryce, and their son, Dale. Survivors include her children, Allen Walden (Michael Crider), Jeffrey Walden, and Jennifer Wolt (Steven); two stepchildren, Bobby Jakob and Beth Cahill; her beloved sister, Maxine Cook; her grandchildren, Andrew Walden (Jennifer), Kaitlyn Walden, Morgan Carter (Mac), Boo Brown, Colton Brown, Kieran Brown; and her nieces and nephews, Peggy Carpenter, Cheryl Turner (Dawn Rosendahl), Janis Diehl (Kevin), David Folsom, Dona Carpenter (Bruce) and Michael Folsom (Marti).
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
