Frances Messick Torian, 93, a longtime Hampton resident, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Born in Hampton, she was a lifelong member of Memorial Baptist Church and the Heartthrobs Senior Citizens Choral Group. Known for her singing, Mrs. Torian was also a talented seamstress. Survivors include a daughter, Sondra T. and her husband Wade Blevins of Meadowview; two sons and their wives, Charles J., Jr. and Theresa Torian of Barboursville and John D. and Kim Torian of Newport News; two sisters, Helen Fraser of Hampton and Bertha Freeman of Poquoson; Seven grandchildren, Charles J. Torian, III, Melanie Keirn, Laura Spring, Audra Rasnake, Wade Blevins, Jr., David Norris and Jennifer Clemmens; and 21 grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday in Memorial Baptist Church, Hampton with Rev. Lawrence Biermann officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6:30 pm Sunday in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, downtown Hampton.
