IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Our mom, Frances M. Parrish was born June 12, 1925 in Winston Salem, NC to Roy L. and Kathryn Burgess. Her brother James R. Burgess, DVM predeceased her and her husband, our dad, Harold R. Parrish. Mom passed away January 4, 2020. She is survived by her children Belinda P. Gray, Alan Parrish and Kathy P. Minkoff. She is also survived by her daughter in law, Barbara Parrish, her son in law, Larry Minkoff, grandchildren Christopher Parrish (Tira), her granddaughter, Kimi Hille (Kevin) and her great grandchildren, Michael and Makayla Hille and Tyler Parrish ,as well as, nieces and nephews.
Mom and Dad first lived as a married couple in Laguna Beach, California where dad was discharged at Camp Pendleton as a Navy medic stationed with the Marines. They moved to the east where they lived in Chapel Hill, NC, as dad completed his degree graduating from the University of North Carolina . They eventually moved to Hampton where dad taught school at Buckroe Junior High and later was a guidance counselor at Kecoughtan High School. He also had a concession stand at the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park. Mom was a stay at home mom where she cooked the best meals, entertained friends and family and had the most beautiful flower gardens. She loved being a wife and mom. She was active in the Hampton Women's Club , Garden club, and First Church of Christ, Scientist in Hampton.
Mom made every holiday special; In fact, she made every day special. She cared deeply for her family, her friends, her neighbors and her community. To her family, she is such a gift that will always remain in our hearts.
After living in her residence for 60 years where we grew up, she moved to The Huntington in Newport News. She was embraced by the staff and the residents. The family will always be so grateful for their care and loving support.
