Frances Wright Crawford, 92, Hampton, passed away on Monday in The Chesapeake Retirement Center. She was born August 19, 1921, in Riceville, Va.to Norman and Alice Wright. On December 5, 1942 she married M. H. (Jimmy) Crawford.

Mrs. Crawford worked as a Red Cross Volunteer at the VA hospital in Hampton. She also worked at Riverside Hospital for over 20 years in the transportation department.

She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church for over 65 years, a member of the James Hale Ex POW Chapter and WMU.

She is survived by her sister, Nita Brumfield, Newport News; a son, Michael B Crawford, Hampton; daughters, Judy (John) Strickland, Crawfordsville, IN; Carole (John) Hargett, Hampton; grandchildren, Wendy Storck, Jay and Jeff Strickland, Nicole Hargett and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 7 brothers.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb.15, 2014, with funeral services following at 11 a.m in Memorial Baptist Church, 317 Lee St, Hampton. The burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
