Florence Brown Pigford, 95, died Thursday, December 14, 2017. Born in Teachy, NC, she had been a Hampton resident for the last 66 years where she was a dedicated member of Fordham Baptist Church. She was a faithful Christian and had raised her family in the church. She had missed being able to attend and participate at church for the last several months of her illness. A wonderful cook, she was always reading cookbooks and cooking magazines and her family has missed her wonderful Sunday dinners. She kept her mind sharp by working crossword puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Preceded in death by her husband, William Harvey Pigford, two sons, Timothy and Danny, and all of her brothers and sisters; survivors include her three daughters, Kathy Thomas (Roger McDaniels) of Vero Beach, FL, and DeeDee Mann (Eddie), and Jan Harper (Mike) of Hampton; four grandchildren, Scott Thomas, Dana Hayner (Chris), Kelly Mann, and Dallas Harper; and three great-grandchildren, Ashtin, Braden, and Emory.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 18, 2017 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 Sunday at the funeral home.
